Proton v5

Runner account

The runner signs in to Proton with an account. Each account connects one runner at a time: while one of the account's runners is connected, another machine using the same account is refused. For several machines, use one account for each.

Robot account

The robot account is made for the runner: it connects Proton Runner and doesn't access the portal. It's the right choice for dedicated machines, servers, and clusters.

To create one, a Proton administrator opens Access & Teams > Username and uses Create robot account:

  • Robot identifier in Runner: the value the Runner asks for instead of the email. If left empty, Proton generates one. It can't be changed after creation.
  • Password: if left empty, Proton generates a secure password. It's shown only once, in Robot credentials: save it before closing.
  • License: a Runner only license or a license included in the package. With automatic assignment, Proton tries Runner only first.
  • Profile: the Executor profile is assigned automatically.

Lost the password? Generate new credential creates a new one, and the previous one no longer connects the Runner.

Personal account

A person can also connect the Runner with their own email and password, for example on the machine they develop on. With Private Mode turned on in the Runner, only that person can send runs to that machine.

Keep in mind that an account connects only one runner: someone who already has a runner connected can't connect another one with the same email.

License

Connecting the Runner requires an active license in the organization: Runner only (just the Runner, without the portal) or Full access. Licenses are under Financial > Licenses.

More than one organization

When the account belongs to more than one organization, the Runner asks which one to join, and the runner stays in it. To use the machine in another organization, edit the connection in the Runner and choose the other one.
