Teams
Teams group people in the organization and decide who sees private automations. They're in Access & Teams > Team.
Create and edit
Add opens Create Team:
- Team Name (unique in the organization, up to 50 characters) and Description;
- Members: search by name or email in Search and add user....
The cards show the name, the description, how many users the team has, who created it and when. The With users and Empty filters help you find empty teams.
People get an email when they join or leave a team, including when the team is deleted. You can also add a person to and remove them from teams from the Users list, in Manage Teams.
Robot accounts don't belong to teams.
:::note The Admin team A team named Admin shows up with the Protected badge: it can't be renamed or deleted, and its members can't be changed from the screen. :::
The team rule
An automation can be public (the default) or private, restricted to one or more teams. You set this in the automation, in the Visibility field.
- A public automation is visible to everyone who has permission to view automations.
- A private automation is visible only to people in one of its teams, and to people with the Admin profile.
The rule applies across Proton: in the automation list, the Automation Center, the Schedule, exceptions, the automation document, processes, indicators, log search and the AI assistant. When the rule leaves something out, some screens tell you how many automations are outside your view.
Each team of a private automation has an access level:
| Level | What the team can do |
|---|---|
| Read-only access | Sees the automation and its datasets. |
| Execution access | Also adds the datasets to groups and runs them. |
| Update access | Also edits the automation and its datasets. |
| Full access | Everything, including changing the visibility and the teams. |
Examples
- The "Billing" automation is private to the Finance team. Ana, from Finance, sees it; Bruno, who isn't on that team, doesn't; Carla, with the Admin profile, sees it.
- A public automation is visible to everyone who can view automations.
- If the Finance team has only Read-only access, Ana sees the automation but can't add its datasets to a group.
Teams aren't linked to runners: to reserve machines for an automation, use Select Agents. See Runners and clusters.
Permissions and mobile
Viewing, creating, editing and deleting teams are permissions of the Team entity, in the profile's Identity tab. Choosing members requires viewing users. The screen is designed for desktop.
