Common issues
"None of your organizations has the AI connector enabled"
The connector is off by default, and Atomic enables it per organization. Talk to whoever manages Proton at your company.
"You already have 5 active AI connections, the limit"
Disconnect a connection you no longer use under My Profile > AI Connections and click I removed one, check again.
"Connection request expired"
The request is valid for 10 minutes and can only be used once. Go back to the assistant and connect again.
Proton asks you to sign in again when connecting
Connecting an assistant requires a recent sign-in, no more than 15 minutes old. Sign in again to continue.
The assistant can't save anything
- The connection was authorized as Read only, or the organization only has read access enabled. If write access was enabled after you connected, connect the assistant again.
- Your profile doesn't have the tool's permission, or you're not on a team with access to the automation. The assistant tells you which rule refused the call. The list of permissions is in Tools.
"This tool does not exist" or a new tool doesn't appear
The assistant read the tool list at the start of the session, before a Proton update. Open a new conversation or
reconnect the connector (in Claude Code, /mcp).
The assistant stopped working with Proton after a while
The connection is valid for 30 days and doesn't renew automatically. Changing your Proton password also disconnects the assistants. Connect again.
Call limit
The connector accepts up to 60 tool calls per connection every 5 minutes, among other limits. Wait a few minutes and ask again. The limits are listed in Permissions and security.
The run takes a while to start
The first run of a repository on a runner downloads the code and prepares the environment before the first step, and it can take a few minutes. Ask the assistant to keep tracking it, without stopping the run.
The assistant says the runner is turned off
An immediate run on an offline runner is refused, just as on the screen. Ask for an available runner, a cluster, a cloud runner, or a scheduled run.
My assistant isn't on the list
The connector currently supports Claude (claude.ai and the apps), Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Codex. Other MCP clients aren't supported yet.
